In Head-Hunting, Big Data May Not Be Such a Big Deal – NYTimes.com.

I think that what people are going to find is that Big Data is a good thing, but it will never take away the human element necessary in recruiting.  Google, filled with some pretty smart people, found out that you just can’t mine data and use the results to figure out who is good and who is not. There is much more that needs to be done.  Companies are trying to find the easy way to a treasure trove of people…but the reality is that there is no secret sauce.  You have to do the due diligence, build the relationships, and use behavioural type interviews to truly determine whether or not someone might be able to do the work that needs to be done.

The short answer is quit trying to find short-cuts.  Do the work necessary to find the right person for the role…..you will reap the benefits for sure…

Happy Hunting..
